The National Moon Sighting Committee will sit for a meeting on Sunday at the Islamic Foundation’s office in Baitul Mukarram on Sunday, Aug 12.
Eid-ul-Azha celebration date will be decided on the meeting.
Religious Affairs Minister Matior Rahman will preside over the meeting, Islamic Foundation said in a statement on Saturday.
The month of Jilhajj will begin from Monday if the moon is sighted on Sunday, making Eid-day on Aug 22 in Bangladesh.
If the moon is not sighted on Sunday, Jilhajj will start from Tuesday and Eid will be on Aug 23.
Islamic Foundation Bangladesh has requested people to contact the following numbers in case of moon sighting from any part of Bangladesh on Sunday: 9559493, 9559643, 9555947, 9556407 and 9558337.

Eid-ul-Azha is celebrated on the 10th of the month of Jilhajj. The government has already set Aug 21-23 as the official Eid holidays.
Holidays will not be extended in case Eid is celebrated on Aug 23 as Aug 24 and Aug 25 fall on the weekend.
