West Indies great Courtney Walsh, who is the Tigers’ pace bowling coach, was named the interim Bangladesh head coach for the Nidahas T20I tri-nation series involving India and host Sri Lanka.

The Tigers’ head coach’s post has been vacant ever since former Sri Lanka cricketer Chandika Hathurusingha resigned late last year following Bangladesh’s tour of South Africa.

“We have finalised our head coach. He is expected to join the Bangladesh team by the first week of April. I am not going to reveal the name right now but I can say he is a well known figure, not someone unknown like Hathurusingha,” said Nazmul.
Bangladesh T20 skipper Mahmudullah on Thursday said he was hopeful about comeback to victory.
“One win will boost us and will reflect on our game. Hopefully, we’ll get it,” said Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah after losing their first match against India in Nidahas Trophy in Sri Lanka.
“We didn’t bat well. We should have scored 30 more runs. We need to find out how to get runs on these kinds of wickets.”
Bangladesh will next take on Sri Lanka in the third match of the tournament, which is timed to commemorate the host island’s 70 years of independence, on Saturday.
In Tigers’ first, chasing 140 for victory at Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium, India rode on Dhawan’s 43-ball 55 to achieve their target with eight balls to spare.
