Nation celebrated the launch of the Bangabandhu-1 with Fireworks. Fireworks being launched at Suhrawardy Udyan on Tuesday, May 15, to celebrate the launch of the Bangabandhu-1 satellite.
The satellite was launched into orbit from Florida on early Saturday. The satellite contains 40 transponders; Bangladesh will use 20 and rent out the rest.
Once operational at 119.1°E longitude orbit, the satellite will provide three types of services: broadcasting, telecommunications and data communications.

The Bangabandhu-1 satellite will become effective by August, according to BTRC chairman Shahjahan Mahmood.
In celebration of the launch of the country’s first orbital communications satellite, the BTRC arranged fireworks ceremonies in the evening on Tuesday.
The fireworks programs were held at the the Hatirjheel open stage in Gulshan and at Suhrawardy Udyan. Similar fireworks programs were also to be held in all districts across the country.

“The Bangabandhu Satellite-1 will not be effective immediately. It will need around three months time,” the BTRC chairman said.
The satellite was launched from Florida satellite launching station SpaceX by the Block 5 version of the Falcon 9 rocket early Saturday morning.
“The firmament will reach exact position in three weeks, and then another two months are required for commercial use,” Shahjahan Mahmood added.
Technocrat Minister of Post, Telecommunication and ICT Mustafa Jabbar was present at the firework ceremony at Hatirjeel.
“The Bangabandhu-1 Satellite is our pride. We are going to celebrate the occasion as one of the biggest achievements of the government,” he said.
Celebrations for the launch of Bangabandhu-1 had previously been planned, but were postponed due to delays in the launch.
