Afghanistan edge it in Dehradun! An 84 run partnership between Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim gives Bangladesh hope, but Rashid Khan holds them off in the last over to win by 1 run and claim the series 3-0!
Mushfiqur Rahim hit five straight fours in the 19th over, but a Herculean effort from Shafiqullah on the boundary line in the last ball rendered it pointless as Bangladesh suffered a one-run loss in the final T20 against Afghanistan on Thursday.
The Tigers needed nine runs off the last over bowled by an in-form Rashid Khan and the spinner removed Mushfiq in the first ball. Mahmudullah took a single in the next ball and then Ariful Haque made two. The youngster then took a single, giving his senior team-mate the strike with five required from two balls.
But Mahmudullah could only manage a single in the fifth delivery of the over and Ariful was left with a chance to be a hero with four runs needed. He did hit the ball hard and it was almost flying over the ropes but the outstretching hands of Shafiqullah, who fell on the wrong side but still managed to keep the ball in, gave the Afghans the victory.

In their chase of 146, Bangladesh had their top-order failing once again, going four wickets down on 53. Mushfiq and Mahmudullah then added 84 to steer Bangladesh closer to victory, but it was not their day.
Mushfiq’s 46 came off 37 balls while Mahmudullah was not out on 45, made in 38 balls.
The loss means Bangladesh were white-washed in the three-game T20 series, as Afghanistan sealed a historic series victory that was so well deserved.
Winning the toss, the Afghans had opted to bat first. Mehidy Hasan Miraz gave away 18 runs in the very first over, but his fellow bowlers bailed him out by restricting Afghanistan to 145 for 6.
Mushfiq was named the ‘Player of the Match’ for his batting exploits while the in-form Rashid Khan was adjudged the ‘Player of the Series’.
Bangladesh, who earlier on the day named Steve Rhodes as the new coach, will play the West Indies in their next tour, which will be the Englishman’s first assignment.
